Now Enrolling: IT Basics, Hands-On Computer Classes for Kids and Teens in Quesnel

Kids grow up surrounded by screens, but tapping through apps is not the same as understanding how a computer works, how to stay safe online or how software gets made. IT Basics is our hands-on training program that teaches exactly that, in small groups at the Elect Technologies Learning Center in Quesnel. We are now enrolling.

Two Age Groups, Separate Sessions

Juniors (ages 8–13) and teens (ages 14–16) learn in separate sessions, so each group works at a level and pace that suits them.

What They Will Learn

• Internet safety: safe browsing, email and online etiquette, and cybersecurity awareness.
• Computer basics: hardware and operating systems, file management, and keyboard and mouse skills.
• Intro to coding: basic programming concepts, problem-solving activities and fun coding exercises.
• Final project: student mini-projects that put it all together, plus presentation skills.

These are skills that last a lifetime. IT Basics helps students:

• master computer basics
• build confidence with technology
• stay safe and smart online
• solve problems creatively
• start coding early
• prepare for school and future careers

Everything They Need

Every student gets training materials and worksheets, small-group, hands-on support from qualified IT instructors, weekly progress support and a certificate of completion.

Program Details

• When: Saturdays from 3 pm to 5 pm, every other week
• How long: 12 weeks, with six two-hour sessions
• Cost: $350 per student for the full 12-week program
• Where: Elect Technologies Learning Center, Unit 101, 242 Reid Street, Quesnel
